Mother Nature and Trumbull Country Club teamed up for an idyllic day of Greatest Golfer on Monday, and the scores showed it.
Carson Arfaras of Canfield was one of 9 scores in the 70s posted. But his was the best with a 70 in the Boys u17 | Coaches Burger Bar division.
“From 10 feet and in – my putter was working great. I just felt really comfortable. My driver put me in places where the hole was open.”
He closed the round strong, making birdie on the 220-yard Par 3 No. 17, then sticking an approach shot to 4 feet on No. 18.
In Girls u17 | Lane Funeral Home play, Shaylee Muckleroy of West Branch earned the qualifying nod, shooting an 84 for her 2nd best round of the season. Low-scorer was Marilyn Zines of United with an 82.
“My second shots were the strongest part of my game today,” said Muckleroy.
