It’s the 2021 golfing season, and the Farmers National Bank Greatest Golfer Youngstown is ready for its 12th season — aiming for bigger and better as always.
Registration opens April 15 for the first of 21 live golf events to happen this summer — our most ever. Everything happens for sure of TheGreatestGolfer.com. But also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Sign-ups for the 2021 season will roll out in stages, and this is what we expect:
We will start signups for the ‘Joe’ Dickey Electric juniors and the new 2-player adult series events.
The juniors season will be 10 qualifier events starting May 22 with an adult-child team event. The juniors championship will be July 23-24. Price is $60 per player. Watch the juniors sizzle video here.
The new 2-player adult event starts the Greatest season on May 15 at The Links at Firestone. There will be two other 2-man events — Saturday, July 31, 8:30 at Riverview Golf Course and Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. at Yankee Run. Price is $85 per player for cart, golf and purse.
We will start signups for the signature event, the Farmers National Bank 54-hole adult tourney played Aug. 13-15 at 7 Valley courses.
That event will grow with new divisions at the 16-19 handicap and 20+ handicap.
ALSO THIS SUMMER:
The Farmers Greatest 2021 summer features 3 more events for fun and charity:
PHANTOM FIREWORKS/CAPRICE HEALTH GREATEST DAY OF GOLF
This summer will be the second year of the Greatest Day of Golf charitable event. There will actually be two marathon golf events this summer to raise funds for local charity.
On Monday, June 21 at Trumbull Country Club, golfers from YSU and their friends will play their second annual Caprice Health Care Centers’ sunrise-sunset golf marathon. Last year’s inaugural event included: 204 holes played by both Nick Braydich and Brian Velasquez, a 58-minute round played by Brandon Pluchinsky, where he scored a 64. Their most important stat was the 14 golfers raising $35,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown.
They’ll do it again in 2021. Joining them the following Monday, June 28, will be 36 of our leading high school golfers who will play their first Phantom Fireworks Greatest Day of Golf at the Mill Creek Par 3 course —racing to get in as many holes as they can for charity.
It’s all part of golf giving back, and proceeds will benefit Boys and Girls Club, Mill Creek Metroparks Foundation and others.
This is an invite-only event.
